What CancerFax Does Differently for HIFU Patients

Most patients who find HIFU online arrive at CancerFax with one of two problems: either they have been told by their local team that HIFU is not available or not appropriate without a proper eligibility assessment, or they have found a Chinese or Indian HIFU centre directly but cannot navigate the communication, logistics, and clinical trust barrier. CancerFax resolves both.

The difference between finding a HIFU centre on the internet and accessing HIFU through CancerFax is the difference between a name and an address — and knowing that someone who understands your case has confirmed that the centre and the procedure match your specific tumour.
  • HIFU-Specific Clinical Navigation

HIFU eligibility is not just about tumour type — it is about acoustic window feasibility for your specific anatomy. CancerFax's clinical team reviews your CT and MRI specifically for acoustic access before making any centre recommendation. We identify whether USgHIFU or MRgFUS is more appropriate for your case, and whether any acoustic obstacles are likely to be solvable with preparation.

  • End-to-End Logistics Without Gaps

From the hospital invitation letter for your medical visa to the airport transfer, hotel booking near the HIFU centre, medical interpreter on the treatment day, and post-procedure imaging review forwarded to your home oncologist in English — CancerFax manages every logistical element so that none of them fall between the cracks.

With CancerFax vs Without Navigation Support

What changes when patients navigate HIFU access through CancerFax versus attempting direct hospital contact.

With CancerFax

  • Acoustic window pre-screened before you travelHIFU eligibility — specifically whether your tumour has an accessible acoustic window — is assessed from your imaging before any consultation is scheduled. You do not travel to find out you are not eligible.
  • System matched to your specific anatomyUSgHIFU vs MRgFUS selection is made based on your tumour and anatomical context, not whichever system a centre happens to have.
  • Itemised costs before commitmentA written itemised cost estimate — confirming number of sessions, system type, sedation, stay, and imaging — is provided before you book travel.
  • Post-procedure continuity with home oncologistYour treating team at home receives the procedure report and response assessment in English — your HIFU results are integrated into your overall oncology care rather than siloed in a foreign hospital.

Without Navigation

  • No acoustic window pre-screeningDirect hospital contacts typically schedule a consultation without reviewing acoustic feasibility — you may travel for a consultation that concludes you are not eligible for HIFU at that site.
  • Quoted for available system, not optimal systemHospitals naturally recommend the system they have installed — which may not be the best match for your specific indication or anatomy.
  • Ambiguous total costs until arrivalInternational hospital marketing quotes often exclude sedation, post-treatment imaging, or session overruns — leading to higher final costs than anticipated.
  • No home-team communication pathwayDischarge reports in Chinese or Hindi rarely reach the home oncologist in a usable form without a dedicated navigator to translate and forward them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from patients considering using CancerFax to access HIFU treatment.

About CancerFax HIFU Navigation

  • Does CancerFax charge patients for HIFU navigation services?

No. CancerFax does not charge patients directly for acoustic window review, eligibility assessment, centre recommendation, cost estimation, or coordination of the initial consultation. Our services are supported through our relationships with partner hospitals and centres. There are no hidden fees, no referral charges added to your hospital bill, and no obligation to proceed after receiving your case assessment and cost estimate.

  • My doctor at home says HIFU is experimental for my tumour type. How should I think about this?

This is a common and entirely reasonable position from home oncologists — particularly for oncology HIFU indications where the evidence base comes predominantly from Chinese single-arm series rather than Western randomised trials. CancerFax takes an honest approach: we will tell you clearly which HIFU indications have strong regulatory and trial support (uterine fibroids, bone metastasis pain, essential tremor) and which are more investigational in Western frameworks but established in Chinese clinical practice (liver, pancreatic, soft tissue). We can also facilitate a direct call between your home oncologist and the proposed Chinese HIFU specialist, and can provide peer-reviewed publications supporting the specific indication. Ultimately, the decision is yours — we provide information and access, not pressure.

  • What if my HIFU treatment is incomplete and I need additional sessions after returning home?

Incomplete ablation requiring additional sessions is a recognised scenario — it occurs in approximately 10–20% of cases, particularly for larger tumours. CancerFax plans for this contingency: we ensure the follow-up imaging timeline is established before you return home, and if additional sessions are indicated, we coordinate a return visit with the treating centre — rescheduling travel and accommodation and ensuring the treating team has your follow-up imaging before the next session. The decision to return for additional HIFU is made jointly by you, your home oncologist, and the treating centre based on the follow-up imaging result.
