Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about accessing RFA through CancerFax.
About the Service
How quickly can I start RFA after contacting CancerFax?
Typical timeline: case review 5โ7 days; centre pre-screening 1โ2 weeks; travel planning 1โ2 weeks. Treatment start approximately 4โ6 weeks from initial contact for most planned cases. Urgent cases โ rapidly growing tumours, pending liver decompensation โ can be expedited to 2โ3 weeks with direct fast-track referral. Contact CancerFax with a note about urgency if your case is time-sensitive.
What if the centre recommends a different treatment to RFA โ should I still proceed?
Yes โ if the treating centre recommends MWA, TACE + ablation, or another approach instead of or in addition to RFA, this is a legitimate and often superior recommendation based on your specific tumour characteristics. CancerFax's case review specifically identifies where TACE + RFA combination or MWA is preferable to RFA alone โ our recommendation and the centre's recommendation should align. If they differ significantly, we discuss the discrepancy with both parties before you make any commitment.
Logistics
I already have a contact at a Chinese hospital. Can CancerFax still help?
Yes. Patients who have initiated direct contact with a Chinese centre can still engage CancerFax for coordination, quality assurance, and logistics support. We can review the proposed treatment plan, ensure it matches current evidence, and provide interpreter and accommodation logistics even if the initial referral was direct. We can also provide a second opinion on the proposed approach if you have any concerns.
How CancerFax Helps
CancerFax is a specialist cancer access and patient-navigation platform. We help patients and families understand their options, organise medical records, coordinate hospital communication, and support cross-border treatment planning where appropriate.
We help collect and organise reports, scans, pathology, biomarker results, and treatment history for structured case review.
We communicate with hospitals or trial teams to assess whether a case may be suitable for further screening.
We support appointment coordination, document submission, translation, and direct communication with international departments.
For international patients, we help with practical coordination โ travel planning, hospital admission guidance, and local support.
If this option is not suitable, we help explore other relevant treatments, clinical trials, or advanced care pathways.
From inquiry through to follow-up, our coordinators provide a single point of contact for the family.
CancerFax does not guarantee treatment access, eligibility, or clinical outcome. Our role is to help patients access accurate information, structured review, and appropriate specialist pathways.
