WHY CHINA IS BECOMING THE GLOBAL
CENTER FOR PRECISION ONCOLOGY
Cancer care is moving from treating a tumour by its name to treating it by its biology. For patients with advanced, recurrent or treatment-resistant cancer, China may offer faster access to molecular testing, targeted drugs, immunotherapy and trials.

Why China Is Rising in Precision Oncology
China's position has not happened by accident โ a large patient population, sustained government support, rapid trial recruitment, expanding genomic testing and a domestic pharmaceutical industry focused on oncology have combined to create real strength.
Scale and Clinical Experience
High patient numbers give leading centres deep familiarity with advanced-stage disease, complex relapse, novel drug combinations and resistance patterns after targeted therapy โ rare in smaller healthcare systems.
Lung Cancer Precision Medicine
Deep expertise across EGFR, ALK, ROS1, RET, MET exon 14, BRAF, HER2 and KRAS, paired with a fast pipeline of targeted drugs, ADCs and bispecific antibodies. Relevant for many Asian patients with higher EGFR mutation frequency.
Gastric and GI Cancers
Active work on HER2-positive and Claudin18.2-positive gastric cancer, MSI-high tumours, liver cancer immunotherapy combined with locoregional therapy, and colorectal cancer biomarker-guided treatment.
Next-Generation Immunotherapy and Cell Therapy
Moving beyond standard PD-1/PD-L1 into combinations, bispecific antibodies and cellular therapies. One of the most active countries for CAR-T in leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, plus experimental solid tumour targets.
Who May Benefit from Precision Oncology in China
Precision oncology is most useful when a tumour has actionable biomarkers or when advanced molecular information can meaningfully guide therapy. Suitability always requires specialist review.
Advanced, Relapsed or Metastatic Disease
Patients with stage IV, recurrent or metastatic disease, or those who have progressed after chemotherapy, immunotherapy or targeted therapy โ especially where standard options are limited at home.
Rare Mutations or Complex Molecular Profiles
Patients with rare mutations, unusual biomarker combinations or complex molecular profiles that need experienced interpretation and matched trial or drug access.
Limited Clinical Trial Access at Home
Patients in countries with fewer oncology trials who want access to early-phase targeted therapy, ADC, bispecific or cell therapy trials not yet available locally.
How CancerFax Helps
A structured, step-by-step pathway for patients exploring precision oncology in China.
- 1
Report Collection and Case Understanding
Diagnosis, treatment history, current disease status, prior response and treatment goals are reviewed to understand the case fully.
- 2
Clinical Suitability and Molecular Testing Guidance
The case is matched against relevant options โ targeted therapy, immunotherapy, cell therapy or trials. Where useful, the team advises on NGS and other molecular testing first.
- 3
Second Opinion and Hospital Review
Reports are shared with appropriate oncology teams or trial units for structured feedback on a suitable pathway.
- 4
Treatment Planning and Cost Clarity
Guidance on likely pathway, estimated stay, required documents, realistic cost ranges and next steps.
- 5
Travel and Follow-Up Coordination
Admission planning, interpretation, travel guidance, hospital communication and post-treatment continuity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Precision Oncology in China
Is China good for precision oncology?
China has become one of the leading countries for precision oncology because of its large cancer ecosystem, expanding genomic testing, fast biomarker-driven trials and growing domestic innovation in targeted therapy, immunotherapy, ADCs, bispecifics and cell therapy. Whether it is right for a particular patient still depends on diagnosis, stage, molecular profile, prior treatment and fitness.
Is genomic testing required before precision cancer treatment?
In many cases, yes. NGS and other molecular testing help identify the mutations or biomarkers that may guide targeted therapy, immunotherapy or trial matching. If testing has not been done, the treating team may advise it before recommending a precision pathway.
Can international patients access cancer clinical trials in China?
Some may be eligible, but it is never guaranteed. Eligibility depends on diagnosis, stage, previous treatment, biomarker status, organ function, the specific trial criteria and hospital approval. CancerFax helps prepare and submit the strongest possible case for review.
Is treatment in China cheaper than in the US or Europe?
Many treatments, diagnostic tests and hospital services may be more affordable in China, partly because of domestic drug development and competition. Total cost still depends on treatment type, hospital, drugs, length of stay and the patient's condition, plus travel, accommodation and follow-up.
How CancerFax Helps
CancerFax is a specialist cancer access and patient-navigation platform. We help patients and families understand their options, organise medical records, coordinate hospital communication, and support cross-border treatment planning where appropriate.
We help collect and organise reports, scans, pathology, biomarker results, and treatment history for structured case review.
We communicate with hospitals or trial teams to assess whether a case may be suitable for further screening.
We support appointment coordination, document submission, translation, and direct communication with international departments.
For international patients, we help with practical coordination โ travel planning, hospital admission guidance, and local support.
If this option is not suitable, we help explore other relevant treatments, clinical trials, or advanced care pathways.
From inquiry through to follow-up, our coordinators provide a single point of contact for the family.
CancerFax does not guarantee treatment access, eligibility, or clinical outcome. Our role is to help patients access accurate information, structured review, and appropriate specialist pathways.
