Zhang Xiao Bin
MBBS, MS (Neurosurgery), Epilepsy & Neuromodulation Specialist
Dr. Zhang Xiao Bin is the Deputy Director of the Epilepsy Centre at a leading Fujian neurosurgical institution, formerly the PLA 73rd Group Army Hospital (174 Hospital). With over 20 years in neurosurgery and more than 10 years of dedicated epilepsy management experience, he is regarded as a provincial-level epilepsy specialist in China.
Dr. Zhang was among China's first cohort of clinicians to obtain the ASEPA-ASNA-CAAE EEG Certification in 2009, an inaugural examination jointly administered by the Asian Epilepsy Academy, the Asian Neurology Association, and the China Association Against Epilepsy. His clinical practice spans the full spectrum of epilepsy diagnosis and surgical treatment, including long-term video EEG monitoring, intracranial and stereo-EEG (SEEG) for presurgical evaluation, brain functional zone mapping, and resection of lesions within eloquent cortex. Beyond epilepsy, Dr. Zhang performs stereotactic and minimally invasive neurosurgery for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. He holds active membership in both the EEG & Neurophysiology Committee and the Neuromodulation Committee of the China Association Against Epilepsy, and serves as a Council Member of the Fujian Anti-Epilepsy Association.
CancerFax can coordinate medical-report review and consultation support for international patients seeking neurosurgical or epilepsy care in China.
Why Consider Dr. Zhang Xiao Bin?
Dr. Zhang combines rare dual expertise in epilepsy surgery and stereotactic neuromodulation, backed by national-level certification and more than two decades of clinical practice at one of Fujian's leading neurosurgical centres.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dr. Zhang Xiao Bin
CancerFax can coordinate medical-record review and consultation support for international patients seeking a neurosurgical or epilepsy opinion from Dr. Zhang Xiao Bin, subject to hospital availability and case acceptance.
Dr. Zhang specialises in drug-resistant epilepsy, stereo-EEG (SEEG) guided presurgical evaluation, and surgical treatment of focal seizure disorders. He also performs stereotactic surgery and neuromodulation procedures for Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and other movement disorders.
Submit your medical reports through CancerFax using the Send Your Reports button. The CancerFax team will review your documents, prepare the case summary, and coordinate the next steps with the hospital, subject to availability.
Stereo-EEG (SEEG) is a minimally invasive technique in which depth electrodes are placed into the brain to record seizure activity and precisely map the epileptic focus before surgery. Dr. Zhang Xiao Bin specialises in SEEG implantation and recording as part of his comprehensive presurgical epilepsy evaluation programme.
A second-opinion request can be submitted through CancerFax with the patient's EEG recordings, MRI or PET imaging, seizure history, and previous treatment records. Dr. Zhang can provide an independent neurosurgical assessment. The final consultation format and availability depend on the hospital's schedule.
Yes. Dr. Zhang's expertise in functional neurosurgery includes the resection of epileptogenic lesions in or near functional brain areas, which may include tumour-related epilepsy cases. Each case is assessed individually. CancerFax can coordinate a case review with Dr. Zhang's team.
