Dr. Manish A. Shah is the Bartlett Family Professor in Gastrointestinal Oncology and Director of the GI Oncology Program at Weill Cornell Medicine / NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City. He is one of the most widely recognised experts in gastric, gastroesophageal junction, and esophageal cancer in the United States, with over 25 years of clinical and research experience.

Dr. Shah trained at Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Medical School and MIT, and completed his Medical Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as Chief Oncology Fellow. He joined Weill Cornell Medicine in 2011 after a decade as Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering. His career has focused on improving outcomes in upper GI tract malignancies through clinical trials, drug development, and translational research. He led the landmark KEYNOTE-811 Phase III trial demonstrating that adding pembrolizumab to trastuzumab and chemotherapy significantly improves survival in HER2-positive gastric cancer, directly contributing to a new FDA-approved standard of care.
