Irit Ben-Aharon

MD, PhD

Prof. Irit Ben-Aharon is a senior medical oncologist and Director of the Joseph Fishman Oncology Center at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel — a 1,100-bed academic government hospital and the tertiary referral centre for 12 district hospitals across Northern Israel. Her clinical and research focus centres on gastrointestinal malignancies, with particular expertise in early-onset and young-onset GI cancers.

Prof. Ben-Aharon completed an MD-PhD joint programme through Tel Aviv University and the U.S. National Institutes of Health, obtaining a PhD in developmental biology. She completed her oncology residency at Rabin Medical Center and undertook GI cancer fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a Fulbright Scholar.
