Huang Xiaojun

MD, PhD

Prof. Huang Xiaojun is an internationally recognised haematologist and bone marrow transplant specialist at Peking University People's Hospital in Beijing. He serves as Director of the Department of Hematology, Director of the Peking University Institute of Hematology, and Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Hematological Diseases, and is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Over nearly four decades of clinical practice, Prof. Huang has focused on the treatment of leukaemia and other serious blood disorders through haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He is best known for developing the Beijing Protocol, a haploidentical (half-matched) transplantation system that allows partially matched family members to serve as donors, helping patients who do not have a fully matched sibling or unrelated donor. Under his leadership, Peking University People's Hospital has become one of the world's largest centres for allogeneic and haploidentical transplantation. His work is particularly relevant for patients with high-risk, relapsed or difficult-to-treat haematological diseases who may need a transplant or advanced cellular therapy. He continues to see patients regularly alongside his research and academic leadership responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Prof. Huang Xiaojun

CancerFax can coordinate medical-report review and consultation support for international patients seeking an opinion from Prof. Huang Xiaojun, subject to hospital availability and case acceptance. Our team can also help with interpreter support and travel-related coordination where required.

Prof. Huang specialises in haematology, leukaemia treatment, bone marrow transplantation and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including haploidentical (half-matched) transplantation. His work is especially relevant for patients with high-risk or relapsed AML and ALL.

The Beijing Protocol is a haploidentical stem cell transplantation system developed by Prof. Huang Xiaojun and his team. It allows partially matched family members to serve as donors, which can make transplantation possible for patients who do not have a fully matched sibling or unrelated donor.

In selected leukaemia cases, CAR-T and other cellular therapies may be evaluated as part of a broader treatment pathway involving transplantation. The right approach depends on the disease subtype, treatment history, remission status, measurable residual disease and the availability of a suitable donor, and requires expert medical review.

Submit your medical reports through CancerFax using the 'Send Your Reports' option. The CancerFax team will review the documents, prepare the case for submission and coordinate the next steps with the hospital, subject to availability.

A second-opinion request can be submitted through CancerFax with the patient's pathology and bone marrow reports, imaging, treatment history and relevant test results. This is often helpful when a suitable matched donor is not available, when leukaemia has relapsed, or when transplant timing and donor selection need to be reviewed. The final consultation format and availability depend on the doctor's institution.
