Dr. Arvind Kumar is one of India's most experienced thoracic surgeons, currently serving as Chairman of the Institute of Chest Surgery, Chest Onco-Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram. He pioneered robotic chest surgery in India in 2008 and has built one of the country's largest comprehensive chest surgery programmes over a career spanning more than 40 years.
Dr. Kumar completed his MBBS and MS Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he subsequently served as faculty for 24 years, rising to Professor of Surgery and Head of the Thoracic and Robotic Surgery Unit. Before joining Medanta in 2020, he served for eight years as Chairman of the Centre for Chest Surgery and Lung Transplantation and Director of the Institute of Robotic Surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.
