Dr. Abhishek Shankar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, one of India's premier public medical institutions. A trained radiation oncologist and NCI Cancer Prevention Fellow, he is widely recognised for founding the Preventive Oncology Unit at AIIMS Delhi and for his extensive work in community-based cancer awareness across India and internationally.

With over 18 years of experience spanning clinical practice, research, and global advocacy, Dr. Shankar's work focuses on community-based cancer prevention and screening, quality of life in cancer survivors, tobacco control, cervical cancer elimination, and cancer policy in resource-limited settings. He has authored more than 141 peer-reviewed publications โ€” including papers in The Lancet and JCO Global Oncology โ€” and has accumulated over 11,000 academic citations. He serves as Secretary General of the Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP), Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Care, and Board Member and Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS). Dr. Shankar also founded the Pink Chain Campaign, a nationwide cancer awareness initiative that has reached over 100,000 women across India.
